Kimchi and Kombucha Make the World Go Round

You had me at kimchi.

The next time I go to San Antonio I will bring an extra large cooler just to transport all the amazing food that can be found at the farmer's market. One of the magical food stalls had kimchi for sale which I could not pass up. My dad has a special place in his heart for kimchi which is a fermented vegetable Korean side dish. I bought the original Napa cabbage to try with breakfast this week. If you like spicy vegetables then you should try kimchi.

I also found kombucha which is fermented tea that tastes delicious and is very good for gut health. Buddha's Brew is out of Austin and they have some of the best kombucha I have ever tasted. I bought a pint of the cranberry was pleasantly surprised at the smooth taste. The best part was that they had rigged a cooler with spigots for the different flavors. Hopefully, pinterest has a pin that will teach me how to make this.
Is this not cool?! I need to learn how to put spigots on my cooler for kombucha.
The best cranberry kombucha I have tasted so far.

Finals and Kombucha

I found this at Natural Grocers and it rocked my socks off.
For many college students across the world now is a magical time in our lives. Who am I kidding?! Its freaking final exams time and we are all prepping for a week of hell with little sleep, too much coffee, and way too much crappy food. Thankfully, Wednesday was my first final exam which was given in the form of a group presentation. My last final is due Saturday and then my semester will come to an end. Hooray!

Right now I am a little frazzled, and tired but at least I have kombucha. Kombucha is fermented tea that comes in all manner of flavors. I first heard of kombucha while living in Virginia and actually made my own kombucha for awhile. Right now I need to overcome my own laziness in order to make kombucha at home. So I just buy it from Natural Grocers in Midland. This drink is full of probiotics which are great for gut health.

Another great find at Natural Grocers!

The semester is nearly over and I am looking forward to reading by the pool, getting off work at 5 and not having to go to class, working out, and cooking way more. The summer is almost here y'all!!

Final Exams Wasted!

I think we need to talk

It has been almost three months that I have been in physical therapy. I think it is time to take my relationship up a notch with my physical therapist. Maybe I need more freedom to do what I want, I feel much more secure with myself. Add more weight to my leg raises, give me a challenge, and let's start some balancing exercises. I can be the worst kind of patient because I have a tendency to tug at the bit and go full throttle like a freight train. My PT team have been great at keeping me in line but now I am feeling better and really want to get stronger.

This morning while on a coffee run at UTPB, I saw the girl's soccer team working out. Talk about inspiring me to want to live in the gym. All I can think about is getting my legs to look like they did pre-surgery. I understand that there is no true symmetry in nature but I want to get as close as possible. Let's hope my physical therapists agree to give me what I want.

I need to add muscle but I also need cranberry Kombucha. Fermented tea makes everything better.

After work I met up with a few girlfriends to get manicures/pedicures. Even though I had to fight traffic and got lost, it was worth the trip. The incredibly nice man who worked on my toes did a great job massaging my calves, and making my feet relax. Working out several times a week in tennis shoes is not conducive to making my feet look pretty. This man is the bombdiggitty and I am going back for a manicure next week.
The finished product :)!

Before manicure: not very cute feet with lemongrass lotion.
